The Worshipful Company of Curriers goes live

Established in 1272, which must be a record for our longest established client, The Worshipful Company of Curriers is a historic City of London Livery Company.

The company received its Charter of Incorporation from King James I in 1605 and like many other modern Livery Companies it is no longer a craft guild, supervising and regulating the currying of leather.  Instead it has evolved into a fellowship of liverymen involved in a range of activities including; supporting the leather trade, charity work, education, engaging with the Armed Forces and fulfilling a civic role in support of the City of London.

We were approached by The Worshipful Company of Curriers after a recommendation from a previous client at another City of London Livery Company.  The existing Company website was dated in appearance, difficult to update, and didn’t provide Company members with easy access to the information they needed.  The Company were keen to change this and replace the existing website with a modern and professional website that was easy to update and served as a far better resource for its members.

The project is being tackled in two phases, the first phase that has gone live today is the new public facing website.  We’re also developing the second phase, which will introduce a brand new members area, which allows Liverymen to log-in and access; upcoming and past events, a members directory with search facility, and company news.  The website will also feature integration with Campaign Monitor for email marketing and general communication with the membership and committees.

The website is responsive, so it displays across mobile, tablet and desktop devices and is hosted on our load-balanced cloud hosting at Amazon Web Services, which also benefits from a SSL certificate as standard for added security.

As has been the norm since late 2013, the website is built using the Craft content management system, which provides The Company with a simple interface for making changes and additions to the website content across both the public and member areas of the website.

We are delighted to be working with another Livery Company to add to the websites we have already designed and developed for The Worshipful Company of Needlemakers and The Worshipful Company of Farmers.  We’re looking forward to deploying the second phase of the project in the near future.
