What are these?

Brief

Brief

The Net Zero Tracker website publishes data on emissions targets set by nations, states and regions, cities and companies - referred to collectively as entities - and on many factors that indicate the integrity of those targets — essentially, how serious the entity setting the target is about meaningfully cutting its net emissions to zero.

The project is a collaboration between four organisations but was primarily led by a long standing client of ours, the Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit.

The project was commissioned to coincide with the 2021 COP26 event in Glasgow to take advantage of the inevitable rise in profile of all things environmental whilst the event was running.

What we did

What we did

The site has two distinct elements: the public facing front-end that visitors interact with to discover up-to-date emissions targets data and the admin facing back-end that editors interact with to maintain and manage the emissions data.

The front-end is built on the Next.js React Framework and gathers emissions data from the back-end content database and displays it in a variety of easy-to-read ways, mostly via the interactive Google Map on the homepage and via the individual entity profile pages.

The finished site has proven incredibly popular with the environmental, research and academic communities as well as traditional print and online media outlets, with many using the site as a key reference point.

We're really pleased with the finished website and know that the lead client and collaborators and just as happy. Why not take a look at the website and if you're considering a similar project, we'd love to hear from you.
